CTA Creates a new Art Adventure

As most of you already know, last year CTA had to put the art program on hold.  This year a
group of Mom's from CTA got together and decided that with the schools permission we would volunteer to run an art program for grades K-5.  We are so excited to embark on this new adventure with our kids.  We are working on mini bios for the next post so that you can get a glimpse at your kids Art Teachers for the 2013-2014 school year.  We have so many fun and creative ideas that we are working on to introduce the world of Art in a way that will spark their interest and motiviate them to learn more about Art History and the many different art mediums.  Some of the mediums we plan on introducing this year are pencil, oil/chalk pastels, charcoal, watercolor, painting, and textiles.  Our focuses on artists and art mediums will change on a monthly basis and we will be meeting with your kids twice a month.  We will be posting a schedule of artists, mediums and class times as soon as we can finalize one.

We would like to ask for your help as well.  We have gone through our available supplies and
have found that there are a few things we could use.  We will have an exact list soon and it will be posted permanantly.  If you are able or willing to donate to the CTA Creates Art Program it will be greatly appreciated.  One of our Art Teachers has placed a basket at the Elementary entrance with a list of supplies needed and you can place any donations there.  Anything that you have that you feel we could use or you just want to get rid of we will gladly take it.  Even if it is not on our list.

We will also be hosting a few fundraisers to get some funding for the art program.  Some
ideas that are floating around are a community closet, crop nights, vendor/craft/bake sales and a t-shirt sale.  We will post dates and necessary info as soon as we secure events and dates.  Along with fundraisers the students will be working on pieces to display at an Art Showcase in the Spring of 2014.  I am sure that your child will be super excited about this event and we would love to see all of you there.

Like I said above, we are working on a lot of really fun creative approaches and projects
for this years art program.  We are beyond grateful to be given this opportunity and each of us look forward to meeting your child and building a relationship through art with each and every kid.  If you have any questions or ideas you can contact our Communications Liaison, Shannon and she will gladly answer your questions.
